Cell Phone Batteries, Money Saving Tips. How to Protect Your Baby from SIDS.

It's hard to imagine what the world did before the use of cell phones! We have become so dependent on having a cell phone that we tend to panic if we forget it at home or if the battery dies. Cell phones are an important part of most everyone's life that allows them to be reachable 24/7 for family, friends and business associates to contact them.

When considering a new cell phone purchase it is also important to consider the cell phone batteries also. Below are some tips to help.

Cell Phone Battery Capacity:

For more talk time and stand by time in between phone charges you should go with a high capacity cell phone battery. However, when choosing a high capacity cell phone battery, there will also be a greater weight in size. With bigger cell phone batteries your cell phone may not fit into cell phone protectors, pockets and such. If you plan on traveling a lot with your cell phone, this may pose a problem as your phone may not be as readily available.

Getting what you pay for:

Just like any other purchase, choosing the cell phone batteries that cost less may not be the best option for quality. Make sure you ask if you are buying a new battery or a refurbished battery, this is an important question! A big hint for spotting a refurbished battery is the price being incredibly too cheap. Refurbished batteries may have old components and not work as well as a new battery will.

Do you receive a warranty when buying your new cell phone battery should you have any problems? Some cell phone batteries don't last as long as expected. The cell phone manufacturer will usually offer a new battery if it's within a specified amount of time from purchase.

What do These Things Have in Common: An Epidemic of Baby Deaths in 1890, An Ambassador's Sudden Illness, Swamp Gas, and Old Mattresses?

The Answer Could Save Your Baby's Life!

All of these are clues which have brought scientists to the startling answer to the question, "Why do babies die of SIDS?"

For unknown reasons, parents of healthy babies wake only to find to their horror, their babies have died in the night. This was called Crib Death in the U.S.A., or Cot Death in the U.K. It is now called by the acronym SIDS for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.

Little is known of this tragic malady except for statistics:

  • SIDS is more common in babies from lower socio-economic classes.

  • A second-born child is twice as likely to die from it as a first-born.

  • A third-born child is even more likely to die from SIDS.

  • More cases occur in the winter months.

  • A higher percentage of babies die from SIDS while sleeping in their parent's bed than in their cribs.

  • The incidence of SIDS deaths is higher in Day Care Centers.

  • SIDS usually strikes infants between the ages of 1 month to 1 year.

  • 73% of babies who died from SIDS were found sleeping on their stomachs.

It was a New Zealand pediatrician who discovered this last statistic while questioning the mothers of SIDS babies. Using this statistic alone, he recommended infants be put to sleep on their backs instead of their stomachs.

This works beyond a doubt. Countries who have adopted this "Back to Sleep" recommendation have seen a 38% drop in the rate of SIDS. The problem with this recommendation:

  1. No one knew why this works and,
  2. After 5 months of age most babies can roll over, putting themselves at risk.

  3. Clues to a Present Epidemic from a Past One

In Italy in the 1890's more than one thousand babies died in a mysterious epidemic.

A green pigment called Paris Green was all the rage at that time and was used extensively in fabrics in Italian homes. This pigment was made from a chemical process which contained arsenic. Arsenic, when in contact with mold or mildew produces a heavier-than-air gas called arsine. This gas collected on the floors where the Italian babies crawled. They died without outward symptoms.

60 years later, in 1955 this knowledge helped diagnose the sudden illness of the American Ambassador to Italy, Claire Booth Luce.

She became seriously ill while sleeping in her room at the embassy. She was suffering from arsine poisoning. Mildew feeding on arsenic in her wallpaper's paste and ceiling paint had created the gas which made her seriously ill, ending her career.

In 1989 an English chemist, Dr. Barry Richardson studied the mattresses on which 200 infants had died of SIDS. He was searching for gasses thought to be causing these deaths.

Being a renowned chemist with 247 published scientific papers to his credit; Dr.

Richardson knew mildew and mold feeding on chemicals often produces gasses. The most common being ammonia created from microbes feeding on nitrogen.

Phosphorus is a common element. Its gas, called phosphine is commonly created in swamps by microbes feeding on the phosphorus found there. This gas sometimes is ignited by methane rising from the swamp and creates a phenomenon known as "swamp fires."

The suspected gasses in the SIDS deaths were; arsine from arsenic, phosphine from phosphorus, and stibine from the element antimony.

The lethal effects of arsine are well known due to the disastrous epidemic in Italy.

Phosphine has properties similar to mustard gas. The Technology Transfer Network Air Toxics Website of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency says of phosphine, "Phosphine is used as an insecticide for the fumigation of grains, animal feed, and leaf-stored tobacco. Acute (short-term) inhalation exposure to phosphine may cause headaches, dizziness, fatigue, drowsiness, burning substernal pain, nausea, vomiting, cough, labored breathing, chest tightness, pulmonary irritation, pulmonary edema, and tremors in humans."

The U.S. Dept. of Labor's website lists the symptoms of stibine as: "Headaches; weakness; nausea, abdominal pain; lumbar pain; hemoglobinuria, hematuria; hemolytic anemia; jaundice; lung irritation." The Health effects: "Acute Systemic Toxicity."

An Idea + A Simple Invention = Lives Saved

In 1986 Dr. J. T. Sprott, a New Zealand Chemist, suggested SIDS deaths were caused by poisoning from gasses which were generated from chemicals in the babie's mattresses. He developed a mattress cover which is free of the suspected chemicals and impermeable to gasses. Although he was ridiculed for his lack of scientific data and his lack of "blind studies," NO BABIES who have slept with their mattresses covered with the cover Dr. Sprott developed have died in New Zealand.

Finally an Explanation for the Statistics!

Mildew and mold need two things to thrive: warmth and moisture. Both are found in abundance in crib mattresses with the infants supplying both. The longer a mattress is in use the more time fungus spores and microbes have to take hold and grow.

Modern mattresses, usually made of polyvinyl chloride burn readily and break down into their original components, releasing gasses. This is called out-gassing. Arsenic, antimony, and phosphorus, along with even more chemicals are added to mattresses to slow this breakdown and as a fire retardant.

Dr. Sprott, Dr. Richardson and other scientists surmised that molds and mildew in the infant's mattresses were feeding on the added chemicals causing the formation of toxic gasses. The babies were breathing in these gasses. Not being able to move away or lift themselves, they died.

    This explains why:

    • SIDS is more common in babies from lower socio-economic classes. Poorer families often use previously used mattresses. The longer a mattress has been in use, the more time mold and mildew have to develop and feed on the chemicals in these mattresses.

    • Second and third-born children are twice as likely to die from SIDS as a first-born. Again, the same mattress often is used for subsequent babies. Prolonged use creates more density of mold.

    • More cases occur in the winter months. Closed houses with less ventilation and high humidity are the perfect environment for molds and mildew.

    • A higher percentage of babies die from SIDS while sleeping in their parent's bed than in their cribs. The parent's pillows and their mattress have the same properties as the crib mattresses. These added chemicals in pillows and mattresses have been linked to illnesses in adults also.

    • The incidence of SIDS death is higher in Day Care Centers. Again, mattresses used for a long time.

    • SIDS usually strikes infants between the ages of 1 month to 1 year. Newborns are often in bassinets, which are only used for a short period. Older babies are able to move around and stand up to get away from these heavy gasses.

    • 73% of babies who died from SIDS were found sleeping on their stomachs. Stibine and arsine are very heavy gasses. Sleeping on their stomachs puts the infants' faces directly in the trapped gasses. Putting them on their backs lessens the exposure, but does not eliminate it.

Dr. Richardson's research on the 200 SIDS related mattresses released to him by local coroners showed every mattress infected by the Scopulariopsis brevicaulis fungus from the babies' sweat and other body moisture. Every mattress had at least one of the chemicals, phosphorus, antimony and arsenic. He found also that 95% of these mattresses had been used by a previous baby.

Why isn't this shouted from the rooftops?

Critics of Richardson's theory argue that there has been no controlled study on this subject so therefore there is no scientific evidence backing it up. Dr. Richardson used newspapers and television to warn of his findings before he published a paper on it. This led to his being accused of unscientific behavior, i.e. "unnecessarily frightening mothers."

Dr. Sprott also found himself at odds with the scientific community for much the same reasons. He blatantly claimed his protective covering prevented SIDS. This infuriated the medical establishments.

As a rebuttal: The use of phosphorus and antimony as fire retardants in mattresses has not been scientifically proven to be safe, especially for infants.

The answer to the accusation of no controlled studies: No ethical person in his right mind would use infants as guinea pigs in a controlled study of this subject. The proof, as with the proof of the benefits of the "Back to Sleep" campaign, comes with time.

How Can You Protect Your Baby?

No matter what controversy surrounds this theory, no matter if the theory is untested, if is wrong, or if there is something else in these mattresses causing these deaths, the action for a responsible parent to take is clear:

    • Put infants to sleep on their backs.

    • Use a new mattress when possible and cover your baby's mattress with a gas impermeable covering which does not have or was not manufactured with the use of the toxic-gas producing chemicals. Polyethylene is such a material. Used in thick sheets it won't cause suffocation or overheating. Wrap it securely around the mattress, being sure to leave space in the underside to ventilate the gasses safely downwards.

    • Use organic, chemical free bedding made from natural fibers. Organic wool is naturally fire resistant and therefore has no added chemicals. It wicks moisture away from the body where it evaporates. This causes a dry environment resistant to molds, mildew, and dust mites. Use organic wool for bedding whenever possible.

    • Write your congressperson, and others in authority to lobby to eliminate the addition of chemicals to crib mattresses.

Whether Dr. Richardson is right or not, these steps will cause no harm to your precious baby, and may just save his life.

Refrigerator Water Filters vs. Bottled Water: Round 1. The Nature of the Trading Business.

Water is the single most important element for human existence, yet many people do not know much about water. Water comprises 60% of a human's body weight, counts for 80% of our blood, and comprises over 65% of our brain and muscles. Knowing this, one can see why choosing the best water to drink is of the impost importance. The two main types of water commonly chosen for their healthy properties are bottled water and water that has been filtered via a refrigerator water filter. Knowing the difference between these to types of water will surely help anyone make an educated choice as to what type of water they want to drink.

One of the first differences between refrigerator water filter systems and bottled water is the cost. There is no doubt that refrigerator water filter systems are cheaper than buying bottled water. They are even cheaper than buying cheap store brand water in bulk. Bottled water has to be so expensive because of packaging, shipping and marketing. Refrigerator water filter systems do not have to deal with massive marketing campaigns or packaging, and so they can charge the consumer less.

More important than the cost of one's water choice is the health factors involved. Many people believe that bottled water is the only healthy water, but this is not true. In fact, some studies have shown that bottled water is less healthy than a refrigerator water filter system. Bottled water suffers because there are often chemicals from the plastic in which the water is stored that become mixed in with the water. Sadly, some companies fill their bottled water with mere tap water. There are no federal regulations concerning the quality of bottled water, so many major companies go unchecked. Refrigerator water filter systems tell the user exactly what has been filtered out of the water, so the user knows the kinds of chemicals he or she is avoiding. The healthiest people are, more often than not, also the best informed. Knowing exactly what is in your water will help you to live healthier.

It is essential to be conscious of the environment in which we live. Bottled water can be recycled, but how much of the plastic is re-used? Additionally, many avid water bottle drinkers do not recycle. The plastics used in water bottles may never fully decompose because of the nature of their chemical bonds. Refrigerator water filter systems are non-obtrusive to the environment. There is no plastic to throw out, and no harmful fumes.

Bottled water versus refrigerator water filters is a heated debate. For consumers who are health conscious, cost savvy, and environmentally sound, the choice is obvious. Refrigerator water filter systems are cheaper, healthier, and better for the environment. Some may think that bottled water is a great new trend, but personal health is more important than any trend. For the best personal health, it is advisable to choose refrigerator water filter systems.

Consider the following: As a trader you are in a business. Your strongest opponent has plenty of capital. He follows a program and he does it without emotion. He is totally aware of the fact that no one knows where the next tick will fall. Whereas he usually has good insights regarding the major forces that drive the market, he does not fool himself into thinking he can explain the vagrancies of price movement intraday or even from day to day. He knows that no one truly can.

The successful trader has learned his lessons by actually trading. This is a business driven by fear, greed, and selfishness, and very few worthwhile pointers are given out by the industry, other traders, or the myriad of so-called trading gurus who plague the pages of trading magazines and pages of their websites. The most valuable information is closely guarded and not often put in books or on web pages. Learning about trading is a &forever' experience.

As the markets change and as we adjust to them, we learn. The learning is ongoing. It stops only when you no longer trade. During the time we trade we can always improve.

Trading is a great business for those who master it, and those who master it are traders who have mastered themselves.

Have Analysts Gotten Honest?
Have Analysts Gotten Honest?

It caught my attention when I heard an analyst on a popular financial news program tell investors to sell a stock because too many analysts liked the company, citing the fact that there were no sell ratings.

It seemed perfectly logical to me that analysts wouldn't be telling investors to sell 3M (MMM), which has one of the most consistent positive earnings records in the history of the stock markets. But being suspicious of conflicts of interest between brokerage firms and analysts I decided to do a bit of fact checking anyway.

While the stock did not have any sell ratings at the time of writing, there were quite a few hold ratings. Now I feel compelled to diverge here and say that the hold rating seems quite illogical to me. If a stock is good enough to hold it's good enough to buy, and vice versa if you wouldn't want to buy it then you shouldn't want to hold on to it either.

As it turns out, the average analyst rating for 3M was only slightly and insignificantly better than the average for all stocks in the Dow Jones Industrial Average, of which the company is a component.

But what was most interesting about the ratings on Dow components was that, despite numerous and serious legal problems, AIG (AIG) was tied with General Electric (GE) and Du Pont (DD) for the third best rating, only bested by Citigroup (C) and Microsoft (MSFT). AIG was actually more highly recommended by analysts than J.P. Morgan Chase's (JPM) and American Express (AXP).

This didn't do much for my confidence in analyst ratings.

So I dug a little deeper looking at the more statistically significant S&P 500. What I found was that companies in the index with the worst revenue performance did actually carry more sell ratings than companies with the best performance.

At least analysts were using the sell rating, something they seldom did in the past.

There was, however, a significant bias towards the neutral &Hold' rating for all stocks indicating reluctance on the part of analysts to commit to buy and sell recommendations.

Shadows in the Wild [Part Two of Two Parts]. How to Play Safely with Your Westie Puppies.

Part Two of Two

[The Deck]

On the deck of the porch the stranger with the red flannel shirt is standing looking at the truck. Amery and Skip get out of the truck, Skip getting out the same side by Amery, not trusting his side, think as he looks back if that damn rat is still alive. Amery is holding his gun is his pocket tight, and Skip is limping about six inches to the right of his shoulders. They see the stranger, and he continues to stand there.

Skip: "That damn fool, he never moves much, I'll move him with a bullet up his ass."

As they get closer to the stranger, his sleeves are rolled up, his jacket off and he has tattoos on both his right and left arms, along with scars. Skip is drunk, and has a knife in his pocket, he is fondling it as he is walking. Now they are twenty feet in front of the stranger. The man is about six foot six, two hundred and fifty pounds.

The Stranger: "It's a horrible death to die with a rat bite," he comments to Skip, as they stand frozen in the dirt. Adding, "The booze will not help you. You best get to a hospital, and make peace with your maker."

Amery: "Who are you, some damn preacher, or the devil himself?"

The Stronger: "I come for the girl."

Skip: "What do you mean, you come for the girl, and we came back here for you. Or do you think we came all this way just to give her to you. Just how do you know we have a girl anyway? Amery, you got the gun I hope, he knows too much, we'll have to kill him also."

The Stranger: "I don't like waiting too long; the girl will die if you leave her as she is. Let her stay here and you can leave;" Amery looking at Skip now, shaking his head no.

Amery: "I never liked coming back here. I told you so, and I don't like this creepy guy..." --Skip looking indigent and nervously moving his knife in his pocket.

Amery now is looking at the stranger out of the side of his eyes, as he checks out Skips leg.

Amery: "It doesn't look good, you're going to need help soon?"

The Stranger: "I want the girl."

Skip: "I want the girl to, is that all you can say, &I want the girl, I want the girl, fuck youuuuuuuu...shoot the crazy fuck, get rid of his big ass, we can bury him here [hesitation] Amery, are you sleeping."

The water from the Great Lakes start to drift up to their feet both Amery and Skip look, as it does, ---the waves are sounding louder, and the fog is getting thicker, almost hard to breath. The man now was not as nearer as he was before to them; he's farther to the east, toward the water. As Amery look back up from checking both the water and Skip's wound, and skip putting his eyes back to where the house was, the both were surprised to see the house was no longer there, plus now the stranger was three times farther away; both show signs of confusion.

The Tide

Amery: [Almost in tears] "What'll we do, the house is gone?" But the stranger was now even more to the East than a minute ago, so they both walked another fifty feet. The sound of the waves gets louder, and the light of the moon is starting to open up just a little. Again you can hear the sound of a boat; it was -this time--as if you were right next to it. The pain of the rat bite now is starting to annoy Skip, and he is sweating. His face is deeply sinking into its bone area, loss of color to his face, almost pink-white very pale life signs, and its reddish color.

He [Skip] seems to be ageing quickly with illness. As he starts to speak, the sounds of the waves drown his voice out, they are so loud he has to hold his hand over his ears, Amery has to hold on to him as the wind picks up and pushes them to and fro. They both look forward, a long glance and a huge wave hits them in the face, drags them like a rat into the water. Matter-of-fact, the wave looks like a rat. They hadn't realized it but they were actually in the water waiting for the current to come back to them. A wave of some twenty feet grabbed them, and another pulled them both out into the water, from underneath their feet. The only thing you can hear is the sound of the waves, &help' sounds from their voices; the wind carries the &help' echoes to the woods and through the dark shadows of the forest.

[The next Day]

Sergeant Thompson [Police Department]: "Good morning, Gloria, funny seeing you way up here so early, what you doing by this truck." In the front seat is a young girl with her feet and hands cut off, still alive. Gloria points to the front seat of the truck, Thompson looks, eyebrows down,

"What's up Gloria?"

Gloria [Detective for another police department, out of her jurisdiction]: "I called the hospital, you will not believe what happened. I found this girl; she's in shock in the front seat as you can see, hands and feet cut off; --looks like she'd been rapped off and on throughout her captivity,--unbelievable. She's evidently was with two guys I think this is the one from the Twin Cities, you know, the one kidnapped a week ago, but I can't find anything of them two guys. Not sure what happened to them. For some odd reason they stopped here, walked over to the lake, some of their cloths are there, I found a gun lying on the beach, a knife, and some cloths. I got them all in plastic bags in my car, I'll give the to you. Crazy, but I found nothing else. Not sure what made them abandon the truck; it looks like they would have gotten away with the crime, had they not come back. They must have had a reason. The truck is half full of gas. They have some wine under the passenger's side of the seat. The girl keeps saying something about a house and a stranger, but I couldn't find the stranger, and you and I know there are no houses within twenty-five miles of here."

The Sergeant goes and looks at the girl. She's about fifteen years old, bright red hair; creamy white completion, pretty, about 5'2".

The Sergeant: "What a shame. Not sure if I should even say this, but the waves were pretty high last night, do you think for some dumb reason, they got drunk, walked down to lake, went swimming, and got pulled out with the tide? You know, dumber things have happened?"

Gloria, with an ironical grin, she looks at him: "Sergeant, maybe that's the best was going to get. Unless she can tell us, if she lives to tell us."

Then as they finish them last words, the ambulance pulls up, takes the young girl out of the front seat of the truck.

The Sergeant: "Funny, the girl smiled when she saw that nice looking big guy bring her to the back of the ambulance [the medic], I wonder why [?] She acted as if she knew him."

Gloria: "He reminds me of Paul Bunion," [The mighty ax man of the north]. But then, this is his country, right." The Sergeant smiles but tries not to make too much of it, for a serious crime had been committed, yet it seems fate may have caught up with the assailants. The ambulance then pulls away, and so does Gloria in her car and the Sergeant in his.

Just like

children, westie puppies learn through play. Playing games with your west highland white terrier pups creates an opportunity to train them to obey your commands, gives them valuable exercise, and helps to build their strength, coordination, and agility. It is also fun for everyone.

Before you start playing games, there are some rules you should know, and safety precautions you should take. Your pups need to really run, not just walk on a leash, but be sure any area you play in has a fence. If they are city dogs, try finding a fenced-in tennis court for play. As a last resort, keep the puppy on an extra-long line. You do not want them to wander free until you are certain they will return on your command.

Never encourage your west highland pups to jump. The young bones are fragile, and not able to bear the stress of jumping until the growth plates are fused. Games like Frisbee, or serious agility training, are for older dogs, although there is still much you can do with your westie puppies by having them working at ground level. If you are eager to start these kinds of games, at about one year of age you can take your westies to their veterinarian for an x-ray, to see if the growth plates are completely fused.

Westie pups first learn to play in the litter by roughhousing with their littermates, but at six to eight weeks, the mother westie begins to discourage this behavior. You should discourage it as well, by never roughhousing in ways that allow them to bite, nip, or claw at your hands. A nip from a puppy may seem harmless, but if a full-grown westie nips, you have a behavior problem. It also teaches them that they can dominate you through aggression. If they do manage to get a nip in during play, discourage it in the same way dogs do, by imitating a 'yelp' sound.

Always remain in control with your pets. You want to teach them you are the 'alpha-dog.' Towards this end, never reward them by chasing after them when they run away from you. Instead, 'hide' from your pups, making them come after you. Tug of War games are good, but never allow the dogs to take the tug toy from you. You should be in control of it at all times, deciding when to end the game by taking it from the dog with a 'give' command. Never allow your west highland terrier puppies to grab a ball or other toy from your hands.

An Introduction to Watch Winders. Religion has Served Its Usefulness for Mankind.

Automatic watches, otherwise known as self-winding mechanical watches, often need a watch winder to run appropriately. In order to properly wind itself, automatic watches need to be worn consistently because they rely on a mechanical weight inside of the watch. Wearing the watch causes the weight to sway back and forth causing it to wind itself. If the watch is not worn for a period of time or only worn sporadically, the mechanism will not wind, therefore causing the watch to run down.

Nearly all automatically winding watches can be wound manually but most people find this very inconvenient. Watch winders were created to keep automatic winding watches functioning properly when not worn. The watch winder is a device that holds one or multiple watches and rotates them to simulate human motion. Since automatic watches were designed to self-wind based on the mechanical weight, watch winders were created so that even if not worn regularly, automatic watches will keep time and stay running for an indefinite period.

Prices for watch winders can vary greatly but often run into thousands of dollars. Since watch winders are generally considered a convenience device, many people do not purchase them for their normal everyday watches. Many collectors and watch enthusiasts choose to purchase watch winders to keep their collectable or beloved pieces working properly. Experts say that if you have a watch that you rarely wear, it may be best to simply wind it every few weeks and let it run down. If you have a special watch that you wear often, but not all-of-the-time, a watch winder may be a very convenient product to own. With a watch winder you can be sure that your watch is running smoothly and accurately at all times even if you need to wear it on the spur of the moment.

Speaking in general terms, there are three basic types of watch winders. Functional, elegant and extravagant are the three main categories of watch winders made today. The different types of watch winders can appeal to a variety of watch owners or collectors. For some of the more expensive models, there is virtually no limit to the options you can choose.

Some of the options include built-in storage units and heaters to keep the watch at a normal human body temperature. From purely functional watch winders that are often cheaper to the most elegant watch winders on the market, determining your basic needs is often a first step in choosing the appropriate product.

As the world becomes closer and closer together, there seems to be a problem with the World's religions. It is time to close them down. The hypocrisy in all religions is unnerving and shows a complete beak down of mankind's mental capacity and inability to cope with the current projected reality.

We see in the news today hate crimes in Muslim world against Christians and Jews. We see the prison uproar over literary books labeled as Holy? A book is a book; that is what it is. If it is a symbol and you worship that symbol then you are a pagan and you are not of the faith your claim to be from. All this crap about flushing Korans down military Prison commodes is hog wash and simply ridiculous? Even if it were true; so what? If flushing a book down a military commode gets a prisoner to tell us information which can prevent Americans or innocent people of any nation from being killed that is water well spent. Whoooosh, bring me another one? Hel,l bring me a dump truck load of them and build some larger toilets.

When international terrorists have used the Islamic faith to recruit suicide bombers to kill people it shows that the religion is too complicated for humans to understand who lack the brain capacity to comprehend the real meaning of the story in the book. A nice story indeed; but really let's get real about something. Religions are created to control mankind, nothing more. When all of a sudden an entire nation of humans starts seeing and talking to an invisible friend; well that is when we have a complete problem. When one nation's invisible friend tells them to kill all those humans who have different voice inside of their heads, we have a problem. When entire cultures are afraid of dolls possessing magical powers, we have a problem. When someone tries to tell you that in fact you will be re-incarnated as a cow, well of course you know that has to be true. When your religious beliefs tell you that you must have five living off spring to be considered a worthy woman, we have a severe crisis. Wake up little weak-minded humans, this ain't working.

Naming your kids Mohammed is silly. Naming your kids Jesus is ridiculous. There are 1400 Jesus' in Arizona prisons alone. I met Jesus too, although I do not have a relationship with him, he did wait on me at the McDonalds drive thru, I read his name tag. And he did serve me my hamburger, which was someone else re-incarnated but probably not Mohammed? Come on people think? How can you buy into this religious crap? Really human brain can be that stupid without practice.

How are we suppose to continue the forward progression of this species while all you silly little humans are running around spouting out your stories and quoting them line by line? This is not working; you folks need to realize there is no Santa Clause. Now stop fighting over semantics and verses taken out of context in modified literary works. Rulers before us made them up to enslave your minds and bodies. The purpose of these religions are only meant to have you surrender your selves to the whims of other men? Dah? Wake up people, what is your problem? I know you are going to go pray on it; so you can have the strength to figure it all out; right? There is no hope for a species, which denies the observations before them? You are all hopeless and you are all going to end up killing yourselves in the name of your God. Then civilization will rise again from the ashes with new names and new gods and start a new? Can't you people see the obvious direction your religions are taking the human race? Think on it; don't pray on it.

The Top Ten Methods to Create a Successful Work Team. Software Engineering: An Introduction.

Teams are often useful in situations where the task cannot be completed individually or if the task requires working interdependently. However, a successful team requires thought and planning. Too often, a group of individuals is simply thrown together, given a mandate, "marching orders" and then told, "Now go make us proud!"

To create an effective work team, defined outcomes, common goals and correct skills are keys to success. Here are ten methods to create a successful work team.

1. Create a common, shared (team) goal.
There must be a central focus that the team is moving towards and it must also include a strong task orientation that translates into each person knowing how to move towards that goal.

2. Have measurable outcomes.
Team execution is usually more effective if you can measure what the team produces. Standards of excellence should be established so that the team understands what the target is and ongoing measurement (milestones) towards the desired outcome should also be implemented.

3. Promote interdependency.
Each person needs to know what he or she is going to contribute and also how what they contribute fits into the "big picture". Discourage personal (individual) competition in favor of the team's agenda and purpose.

4. Help the team to understand and appreciate differences.
Teamwork is an individual skill and each individual brings unique talent, value, communication needs, strengths and limitations to the team. Building an effective, unified team requires each person first understands their own "style" and is then able to recognize and appreciate the "styles" of others.

5. Make sure team members have the right skills.
Technical (hard) skills as well as interpersonal, problem solving (soft) skills are equally important to the team's success. Don't neglect one for the other. Discover where the needs are and then provide the right training to meet those skill needs.

6. Train and then follow up on training.

Long-term retention of newly learned training skills requires ongoing coaching and assistance from immediate supervisors and coaches. Frequent inquiries into how recently trained team members are progressing and feedback will help them continue practicing what they have learned.

7. Spell out lines of communication.
It's important to know how to communicate with one another as well as the "flow" of communication.

8. Continually stress the team's purpose.
It may seem simplistic, but frequently reminding team members of the "what" and the "why" is critical to ensuring the vision and mission stay fresh and that the team remains focused on the desired outcome. Revisit the team's mission as well as the desired outcome often.

9. Provide detailed agendas for team meetings.
Meetings are not always the most effective or efficient use of the team's time, but if a meeting is necessary, make sure it is structured so that the time is well spent. Outcome agendas are particularly effective. More than simply a list of items to be discussed, these will spell out exactly what outcomes will occur during and following the meeting.

10. Be a model.
People will respond according to the actions - not the words of their leaders. If you want effective teamwork, model it first and foremost. Performance advisor and author, Darcy Hitchcock, puts it this way: "employees are professional 'boss watchers'. That is, what managers say means nothing unless their actions model what they say." Leading is the act of influencing others to act, which is difficult if you have one set of standards for yourself and another for everybody else.

Software Engineering is the Systematic Approach for analysis design implementation and maintenance of Software .It involve the use of Case tools. Computer software

is the product that Software Engineers design and develop and virtually every one in the industrialized world use it and is important because it effects nearly every aspect of our lives and has became needy in commerce, culture and our every day life.

The Steps involved in building a computer software like you build any successful product ,by applying a process that leads to a high quality result that meets the needs of people who will use the product .

There are different steps involved in developing the software and generally there are three phases involved in software development. Definition , Development and Support phase.

The first phase is of definition which every thing about the software is gathered and each and every information which is needed to develop a software is gathered. In short a proper road map is prepared and in which key requirements of the system and the software are identified.

The second phase which is the Development phase, that is a software engineer attempts to define how data are to be structured how function is to be implemented within a software architecture , how procedural details are to be implemented how interfaces are to be characterized and how the design will be translated into a programming language. The method applied during the development phase might vary but the three technical tasks should always occur that are : Software Design , Code generation , and software testing.

The Third and the last phase focus on changes which occur after the development of complete software this phase is associated with error correction, adaptation, enhancement and prevention of the software.

In addition to these activities there are also some activities involved in the development of software and these activities are used throughout the Software development these activities are called Umbrella Activities. These activity include :

Software Project tracking and control.

Formal technical reviews.

Software quality assurance.

Software Configuration management.

Document preparation and production.

Reusability management.

Measurement.

Risk management.

There are many phases of software engineering and it is a very deep field of software development and all the things discussed above is a part of the introduction.

Tell Site Visitors What To Do. Keep That Showroom Shine.

Your site visitors make all the choices when it comes to browsing the Web.

No other medium gives users, readers or customers such control over their own experience.

TV, radio and print present information in a very linear, controlled way. But on the Web, there is no telling how your next visitor will experience your site.

Where will they click? Which pages will they visit? It's hard to tell.

Being sensitive to the fact that the user is in control, many sites simply present as many options as possible on their home pages. The thinking apparently being that the more choices you show on page one, the more likely you are to present something that connects with as many visitors as possible.

Perhaps this was the strategy behind Ford.com.

While a considerable improvement on how it looked a little while ago, the Ford homepage still offers almost forty links to other pages on the site.

In addition, no particular priority is given to any one individual or group of links. The choice is left to the user.

No emphasis or priority is offered. Ford is sitting back and saying, "You decide."

The trouble is, when they take that position, they are asking the visitor to do all the work.

The visitor is now required to scan those forty links and try to figure out what to do next.

Does anyone smell conversion drop-off?

Now look at a site that takes a very different approach. Take a peek at GetSmart.com.

They offer a variety of different ways into the site. But they also present some clear preferences.

Dead center on the page they say...

* Refinance, Home Equity, and more...
* Pay virtually ALL your bills online
* Organize all your online accounts
* Consolidate debt, auto loans, and more...

Four simple choices, three of which open with an active verb. In short, they tell you what to do.

Click on that first link. You're taken to another page, with a variety of options. However, once again, they show a preference and tell you what to do.

* Refinance your existing mortgage
* Consolidate your debt
* Home Equity financing
* Purchase a home

For another example, visit TravelNow.com.

Again, you'll see clear directions on what to do.

*

Search for Hotels
* Search for Cars
* Search for Flights
* Stay Drive Fly

These sites support their users by offering clear instructions on what to do.

Does this preclude someone from taking his or her own path through the site? Not at all.

But for many users, particularly those who are there for the first time, finding these simple instructions comes as a huge relief.

Here is the heart of it. Just because your visitors enjoy an unprecedented level of control over their experience at your site, doesn't mean that they don't want some help.

Don't simply give them numerous, passive options. Don't leave them to do all the work.

Help them out. Express a preference. Tell them what to do.

You're not being pushy when you do that. You're being helpful.

(

ARA) - While most of us are far from experts on our car's inner workings, we do appreciate the technology behind it. From fuel injection to anti-lock breaks, innovations have come quite a way since the days of the Model T.

Even paint jobs have improved through the years, employing features that make new cars gleam on the showroom floor. But once the real-life driving begins, that sparkle can fade or even be buried beneath a layer of grime. Keeping your car looking new used to mean hours of weekend labor, repeated every few weeks. But today, drivers can keep that showroom shine for years.

Whether your car's odometer is at 100 or 100,000 miles, a few simple steps can help protect your investment for years.

* Get Rid of Grime. Consistently washing your car will help prevent build-up of dirt and debris that can mar your paint's finish. In areas with heavy construction, pollution or road chemicals, it becomes even more important.

* Go High-tech. After washing comes waxing, right? Not necessarily. Most car waxes are made from carnuba waxes, which can get sticky (and attract dirt) and wear off quickly. "People really like the idea of polishing their vehicle every few years, instead of every few weeks," says Glenn Canady, president of 5 Star Technolgies. His company produces 5 Star Shine, a patented car polish so unique, it's the only paint protection system to have a U.S. patent.

"Our product uses PTFE, the same substance that makes nonstick cookware slippery. That means it repels dirt and grime, instead of holding it. The best part is that it actually bonds with the molecules in your paint, so it lasts through hundreds of car washes. It will last about five years for a new car and three years on most used cars." In fact, 5 Star Shine is so effective the U.S. Navy uses it to protect their radar antennas from exhaust fumes and sea spray.

* Protect from the elements. We're entering a season of sloppy, messy driving. Mud, slush and snow can leave your car looking bad, and may lead to damage in the future. Be sure to include an undercarriage wash for your car on a regular basis to avoid a build-up of dirt that may hold moisture against the metal, leading to rust. Ice-melting chemicals and, of course, road salt, can lead to corrosion as well.

By taking the time to care for your car, you ensure years of reward with a great-looking vehicle.

Niagara Falls Honeymoon. 3 Methods for Clearing Mental Clutter.

Niagara Falls is famous for its natural beauty as well as an important source of hydroelectric power. Horseshoe Falls, sometimes known as the Canadian Falls, the American Falls, and the smaller Bridal Veil Falls are the three separate waterfalls that make up the Falls. You can view the spectacular Niagara River by climbing over 400 steps of stairs to the top of the Historical Brock Monument. The atmosphere is just the perfect setting for a memorable romantic moment for couples.

Blessed with an abundance of natural beauty, Niagara Falls has been the honeymoon capital of Canada for many years. The 30-mile journey from Fort Erie to Niagara-on-the-Lake offers honeymooners breathtaking sights as well as fond memories of this amazing structure that nature has made. This is why Sir Winston Churchill had called the Niagara Parkway the most beautiful drive in the world. Shared between the twin cities of New York and Ontario, there is no way you can enjoy your Niagara Falls honeymoon completely within a day.

The key to an enjoyable trip would be to plan your Niagara Falls honeymoon now in order to experience all the beauty and attractions here. In fact, Niagara offers exciting night time activities too, from gourmet dining to dancing in numerous clubs to fabulous shows and gambling at Casino Niagara.

Attractive free admission places that you should visit on your honeymoon are Queenston Heights Park, which features plenty of picnic facilities, outdoor concerts and enchanting gardens. Another place of interest would be the Floral Clock and the Lilac Garden, which is a free admission park located in Queenston. The Niagara Parks Botanical Gardens which is open the whole year round and is home to a Horticultural School, is also worth a visit.

Many adults with ADD have a hard time slowing down their brains. Thoughts often come at whirlwind speed, and it can be hard to concentrate on the tasks at hand when so many other thoughts are floating around in the brain. I call this "mental clutter."

Often times, mental clutter is made up of worries and bad feelings. (Very few people get overwhelmed by the amount of positive thoughts in their heads!) Regrets of the past and worries about the future can easily overshadow the present moment. Self-doubt can also take up a lot of space in the mind. When an excess of these types of thoughts take over in the brain, it can be stressful, upsetting, and sometimes even paralyzing.

The best way to clear this mental clutter is to process the thoughts, rather than letting them swim around in your brain. Doing so will allow you to focus on the present moment, and feel more calm and centered.

The following 3 methods have proven very helpful in clearing mental clutter.

1. Write

A great way to clear mental clutter is to transfer the thoughts from your brain onto paper. This can be in the form of a to-do list, an email to a supportive person in your life, or a journal entry. When the thoughts are recorded, there is no need for your brain to hold on to them.

Additionally, if you feel weighed down by a situation (like an argument with a family member) writing about it can help you process your feelings. You can get a better grip on the events, how you feel, and what you might have done differently. A page or two might be all it takes.

2. Talk

Many people with ADD are "verbal processors." This means that we often work through thoughts and feelings by talking them out. It helps to have an objective person to talk to, who can mirror your thoughts and talk them out with you. However, the very act of talking is often what does the trick, so having someone to talk to isn't always necessary. Many people find that talking into a tape recorder suits their needs. Others talk to plants or animals. (I talk to my dog so much that I'm surprised she doesn't talk back by now!)

3. Move

Some ADDers can clear mental clutter by moving. Something as simple as a 10-minute walk can give the brain a needed jolt. Others may find that they feel free of extraneous thoughts after a visit to the gym. The time alone combined with the physical activity proves to be a successful formula for some ADDers to work through their mental clutter.

It's best to experiment with the different methods and see which work best for you in the different areas of your life. The important thing to know is that with a little time-out, mental clutter can be cleared!

5 Tips for Cheap Home Insurance. Investment Clubs.

Home insurance is a general term for two different insurance products. Buildings insurance to protect your property's construction and home contents insurance to protect your moveable household objects and valuables.

The problem is that not all home insurance policies are created equal making it difficult to compare like with like. The areas and level of protection offered vary from policy to policy along with the price. So having a definite idea of what you need to insure and for how much will help minimise the overall time and money spent buying it.

TIP 1: Cut the risk, cut the premium

All insurance protects against the risk of financial loss. So to cut the cost, cut the risk to the insurance company and you'll be rewarded with a lower premium. Here's a quick summary of the most effective measures.

€ Call your home insurance company or local neighbourhood watch scheme and they will send you a list of steps to take to make your house more secure.

€ Fit locks to all windows and level 5 (BS3621) mortise deadlocks locks to the doors. Most insurance companies will give you up to 10% off your contents insurance if you have these kind of locks fitted.

€ You can also have an alarm fitted by a recognised alarm fitter, which your insurance company can recommend, and again this can give you up to 10% of your policy. Bear in mind that these are expensive alarms which require an annual check-up.

€ Increased policy excess. You will usually have to pay the first ½50 of any claim, but if you're willing to pay more, your premium will fall.

€ Neighbourhood watch. Some insurers offer discounts if you live in a neighbourhood watch area; however this is becoming less common.

€ No claims bonus. Just like your car insurance; a record of no previous claims will reduce your premium substantially. If you need to make a claim, consider whether it may be cheaper to pay for the loss yourself to avoid an increase in premiums.

€ Your age. Statistically, the older you are, the less likely you are to make a claim. So if you're a lower risk this will be reflected in your premiums. Some companies offer extra benefits to those over 50 such as Saga.

€ Special precautions. Declare any special safety precautions you've made for your valuables such as a home safe.

€ Your lifestyle. If you have a dog, are teetotal and don't smoke, be sure to declare this as such factors are used by some insurers to reduce premiums.

€ Occasionally applying to your existing insurer as a new customer can reduce your premiums. Many insurers offer discounts to new customers which won't be repeated when you come to renew.

€ If you apply online you will normally get a discount of around 5%.

Before you carry out any security improvements to your home, always check with your home insurance company first. They will confirm which improvements will have the biggest cost cutting impact.

TIP 2: Only pay for the home insurance you need

Calculating an accurate figure for the buildings and contents insurance value can be awkward, which is why a lot of homeowners are either under insured or paying for levels of cover they don't really need.

Buildings insurance covers the re-build cost of your property not its market value. The re-build value of your home is the cost of re-building it in the event that it is destroyed by fire or subsidence for example. The re-build value of your home can usually be found on your mortgage agreement, or property deeds. The Building Cost Information Service (BCIS) of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) produces a range of detailed guidance on the cost of rebuilding houses and flats together with a re-building cost calculator.

Alternatively, you can opt for a policy that has an unlimited or high standard buildings sum insured so you don't have to be concerned about insuring the right amount.

Home contents insurance covers almost everything else you would take with you if you moved house. Make a list of the rooms in your house and write down all the items contained in each with its value. Once you've done this, total the individual amounts to see what contents insurance protection you need. Remember to value items such as CD's, videos and clothing as their collective cost is often under insured. Whether your wardrobe is full of jeans or designer labels, make sure you include the cost of replacing them.

TIP 3: Consider separate buildings & contents insurance

If you need both buildings and contents insurance, get quotes for separate policies for maximum potential savings. Most insurers do provide them as separate policies and just because one is cheap for buildings cover doesn't mean they are equally competitive to insure the contents. Find the cheapest providers for each component and consider buying each from different insurers.

TIP 4: Shop around for home insurance

As with any other retail product, the biggest savings are revealed by shopping around.

Firstly, don't simply opt for the home insurance supplied by your mortgage lender. They can be convenient when your busy sorting your mortgage but they're often over priced and chances are they won't have been compared against other policies on the market.

When shopping for insurance you basically have three options; go direct to the insurer, browse the web or use a broker. If you have the time and commitment you can do all three, but the fastest and most effective route is to log on and use the reach of the internet.

The best insurance websites compare dozens of brokers and home insurance companies in minutes. You only have to fill in one form to get a list of premiums displayed on your screen from major insurers and brokers. However, if you have unusual or very specific requirements the final premium may increase when confirmed direct with your chosen insurer.

TIP 5: Haggle & Save

Like every other product, insurance has a margin of profit built into it which can be negotiated down if you're armed with the right information. Not every insurer will buckle and concede an additional discount but if you don't ask you won't know.

€ Firstly, find the cheapest quote after using internet comparison sites and phoning a few brokers.

€ Take the cheapest quote and contact your existing insurer first asking them to beat it. If they won't budge contact the second cheapest insurer and do the same.

€ If after all that the insurer won't cut the premium, ask them to throw in some extra cover to sweeten the deal or move on to the next home insurance company.

Because you don't feel too sure about which stock or mutual fund to buy you decide to become a member of an investment club. Each of the members contribute a certain amount of money each month and then meet to decide what to buy or sell.

It is a nice camaraderie, but what do you know about making money in the stock market? The members decide what services to buy to obtain information on stocks and funds. Certain members will be designated to do research on a particular stock and bring it to the next meeting.

The members become buried in gathering data - doing research and forget that the end result is to make money. It is relatively rare to do any technical analysis. They gather reports from so-called investment analysts at the big brokerage firms. Recently the Securities and Exchange Commission has been investigating the recommendations of their in-house analysts because of the very poor results of their calls. Some have been accused of giving buy recommendations on stocks it was obvious were dogs. Let's hope the SEC does something besides a slap on the wrist.

We used to have a guy where I was a broker who wrote reports. He was told to do a report with charts and graphs. He said, "OK, do you want it to be bullish or bearish?" He could slant it any way we told him using the same facts and statistics and never tell a lie. The small investor is at the mercy of these people.

One of the greatest sources of information is Morningstar. They have every bit of information that is available about a company and they will sell it to you at a reasonable price. My problem with all this information is there is one important thing they cannot tell you - if I buy it, will it go up?

After more than 30 years in the business I will tell you that all the information you can gather about any company or mutual fund is totally and completely worthless. Trying to pick a winning stock is very difficult so what I do is let a very smart guy do it for me and he does it at no charge. How? Simple. I hire the manager of a no-load mutual fund that is currently going up and I buy that. As long

as his fund is advancing in price I will keep it and as soon as it starts down I sell it and find a new smart fund manager who can make money for me.

There is no such thing as a "good" mutual fund. At times they are good and at times they are bad. Good is going up. Bad is going down. If a fund has been advancing for more than 60 or 90 days at the rate of more than 2% per month it will show up on my Buy list. I don't need to know anything else about it and no further research is necessary.

Show this to your investment club members. A chart is helpful, but the numbers will speak for themselves. The only research your club needs to do is find a no-load mutual fund that is advancing the most in the last 90 days. Forget about 3-year and 5-year performance. What has it done lately? Your club can be a winner every year.

Al Thomas' book, "If It Doesn't Go Up, Don't Buy It!" has helped thousands of people make money and keep their profits with his simple 2-step method. Read the first chapter at http://www.mutualfundmagic.com and discover why he's the man that Wall Street does not want you to know.
